Dr. Josie Ackmann
Veterinarian
Dr. Ackmann grew up in Wisconsin surrounded by all animals great and small from hamsters to horses. She attended the University of Wisconin-Parkside, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. While in college, she worked at a mixed animal vet clinic and for a board-certified equine dentist. She was able to achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian in 2023, graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She joined the Buffalo Veterinary Clinic team shortly after. Her special interests include equine reproduction, equine dentistry, and small animal cardiology and ultrasonography. She enjoys the variety of work and that no two days are the same in rural mixed animal medicine. Dr. Ackmann is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
In her free time, Dr. Ackmann enjoys outdoor activities with her husband, Houston, a wildland firefighter. You may see them hiking, fishing, or camping in the Bighorn National Forest. She also enjoys tending to her chickens and gardening. They have a pitbull, Nova, and four cats, Izzy, Catnis, Steve French, and Tater.
